2017 PSA Script Competition

Every year, WIFD produces a PSA for a North Texas non-profit. This year, we have selected Jonathan's Place. Now we need your vision!

Jonathan’s Place provides a safe, loving home and specialized services to children ages newborn to 17, who have been abused, abandoned or neglected. Each child receives medical and dental exams, developmental, psychological assessments, weekly individual and group therapy and is enrolled in school. Their specialty programs include Foster Care & Adoption, The Girls Residential Treatment Program for girls between the ages of 10 – 17, The Safe Place program educating middle and high school aged children about abuse and providing immediate help and safety to youth in crisis, and The Transitional Living Program (TLP) for young women aging out of foster care.

To read more about the wonderful community work of Jonathan’s Place, please visit JPKIDS.org

Prize: Bragging rights, for sure! Potential Telly Award, maybe?! (Our 2016 PSA won one.) Either way, it's for a great cause. The winning entry will be produced, aired on local media, and posted on WIFD's YouTube, website and social social media.

Who Can Enter: Contest is open to anyone who can tell a visually impactful story. WIFD members and non-members in Texas and beyond are encouraged to submit.

DEADLINE:
Please submit scripts to psa@wifdallas.org by Wednesday, June 7 at 8pm.

FEES: WIFD Members $0 / Non-Members $15

Payment (for non-members) can be made by clicking "Register".

What to Submit

Your script should make Jonathan’s Place goal and vision come to life. We will be producing 30 and 60 second versions of the PSA.

Goal:  To shine a positive light and encourage more families to sign up for the foster and foster-to-adopt programs.

Vision:

  • Empty, or soon to be, nesters
  • Young couple (perhaps one was a foster child)
  • Couple struggling with infertility
  • Couple that always wanted another child (maybe has two boys and always wanted a girl, or what’s one more teenager?)
  • LGBT couple
  • Single person (over 23 years old with steady income)

Script should present 3-6 candidates and then point them back to Jonathan’s Place to fulfill their needs.

  • makes the process simple with free monthly, no commitment, walk-ins welcome orientation
  • free trainings
  • step-by-step assistance
  • 24 Hour support

At the end of the PSA, the additional services Jonathan’s Place provides as well as its two offices in Dallas and Fort Worth will be listed.
