WOMEN IN FILM DALLAS NOW ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR THE 2014 CHICK FLICKS FILM FESTIVAL

DALLAS, TX – July 21, 2014 – Women in Film Dallas (WIFD) is now accepting short film submissions for the 2014 Chick Flicks Film Festival. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Women in Film Dallas is pleased to present the 13th Annual Chick Flicks Film Festival on October 2nd at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas.

 

The 2014 Chick Flicks Chair, Leah Chen Baker, is looking forward to receiving submissions, “This year, I am thrilled to announce that the Festival will introduce cash prizes, a national judging panel, and an expanded program!"

 

The Chick Flicks Film Festival is looking for narrative, documentary, animated, and experimental short films in any genre with a runtime of 35 minutes or less. Films must have been completed after January 1st, 2012. Festival categories include: Female Filmmakers and Flicks by Texas Chicks. Female Filmmakers is open to shorts directed by a woman, or if women are in two (2) or more of the following above-the-line positions: writer, producer, director of photography or editor. Flicks by Texas Chicks requires all of the above and ties to Texas.  

Submissions are accepted now through August 28th, 2014. Early Bird registration ends on July 31st, 2014. Accepted film selections will be notified by mid-September 2014.

 

Cash prizes and awards will be announced at the screening on October 2nd at the Angelika Film Center.

The Best of the Fest winner will receive a $1,000 award.

 

The Best Student Film winner will receive a $300 award sponsored by Black Irish Girl Productions. (A current and valid student ID is required.)

 

The Texas Award and Audience Choice winners will receive prize packages. 

 

Women in Film Dallas is a non-profit organization and part of a global community that empowers, promotes and mentors women in the film, television, and digital media industry through networking, recognition, and educational opportunities.
