Lost Boys of Sudan
is an Emmy-nominated feature-length documentary that follows two Sudanese refugees on an extraordinary journey from
Africa
to
America
. Orphaned as young boys in one of Africa's cruelest civil wars,
Peter Dut
and
Santino Chuor
survived lion attacks and militia gunfire to reach a refugee camp in
Kenya
along with thousands of other children. From there, remarkably, they were chosen to come to America. Safe at last from physical danger and hunger, a world away from home, they find themselves confronted with the abundance and alienation of contemporary American suburbia;
trailer available for viewing at this link
.
This screening is sponsored by Women in Film.Dallas as a fundraiser to support the non-profit Friends of Lost Boys/DFW, which provides tuition and emergency needs for the 100 Lost Boys in the Dallas / Ft Worth area.
This African-centric event will begin at 7pm in which the Lost Boys will hold a Q&A, and an African drumline will perform.
The film is family friendly for viewing by middle-school-aged children and older.
Tickets are $15 each and available for purchase at:
