Women in Film.Dallas wraps up the festival on Day 3 with Short

Flicks by Texas Chicks!

 

The Short Film Competition on Thursday October 18 will be showcasing 7 short films by female filmmakers from across the state.


We will be awarding a Jury Award and a Student Award for the films selected by our Chick Flicks Judges Meredith Stephens and Julia Dyer. There will also be a chance to vote on the Audience Award. So come out to make your pick!

Mix n' Mingle at 6 p.m. - Location TBA (Members Only)
Screening at 7 p.m. - Angelika - Dallas

Here is the line-up for Short Flicks by Texas Chicks:

Raspberry Jam - Courtney Ware (Director, Editor)
SYNOPSIS:
Raspberry Jam tells the mystical tale of Stephen McMurphy, played by Dallas actor, Andrew Sensenig. An ancient and time honored tradition, the McMurphy family ate raspberry jam every morning. For if they did, there would always be hope. When Stephen is in an accident, his epic journey begins. Oh, and there’s a leprechaun, too.

The Package - Kim Visser/Nicole Holt/Hayley Polak (Writers/Actors)
SYNOPSIS:
The 48's are five incredible women, with the skill to kill. The 48s are given a directive from The Director to rescue The Producer and retrieve The Package from the Evil Plumber. Against all odds the 48's try to succeed in their mission no matter what the cost. They must find The Package. When you're in trouble, only The 48's can help you when you need it most.

The Chrononaut - Abbey Hoekzema (Director/Producer) Student Film
SYNOPSIS:
The Chrononaut investigates a Professor's passion for the art and his work within the Texas Steampunk community where he designs and re-purposes objects with the enthusiastic support of his family.

Butterfly - Jing Yang (Director/Writer/Producer/Editor)
Student Film
SYNOPSIS:
A conversation between a mysterious young woman in her pajamas and sunglasses and a neighbor woman leads to dramatic turns in the young woman's life after her husband comes home.

Duck Food - Sara Roberts (Producer)
SYNOPSIS:
When a boy and girl meet feeding the ducks at the park, an innocent connection blossoms. Faced with the challenges of a new relationship, they learn the value of embracing their differences.

City Waltz - Reyna Cuellar (Producer/Director of Photography/Sound Design)
Student Film
SYNOPSIS:
City Waltz is a modern romantic silent film about two neighbors who are in love with each other, but neither of them seem to notice. Until one day the male role decides to take a step on their relationship, not realizing that she has a secret.

Hellion - Kat Candler (Writer/Director), Farah White (Executive Producer)
SYNOPSIS:
Hellion is a 7-minute short film about fraidy-cat, Petey Wilson (7) and his two hell-raising brothers. And what happens when the Wilson boys working class dad comes home to a raging bonfire and the babysitter duct taped to the side of the house? Boy, are those boys gonna get it.
