2013 Chick Flicks Judges
With her varied skill set and dedication, Farah White has worn many different hats in the motion picture industry for well over a decade (including writing, directing and acting) but has recently turned her focus to producing. Through her company, Femmewerks Productions, the past five years have seen her producing on five different feature films (Ladies of the House, Wuss, Champion, Traveling, Hold) as well as the shorts Hellion (an official Sundance 2012 selection) and Slash (Fantastic Fest 2013).
Up next, two features - The family drama (About Mom and Dad) and the action thriller (Daylight's End). White’s diverse film experience culminates with her extraordinary talent at stretching the low-budget film dollar, while staying true to the original spirit of the project. When it comes to producing, Farah’s steadfast approach is that there is no such thing as a job too small or a hurdle too large.
Trish Avery loves short films. Some say it’s because she suffers from ADHD. Others say it’s because she’s only 5’2”. Truth is, she just likes films and filmmakers. Trish has been in the storytelling biz for over 25 years as performer, writer, and producer.
Currently she is an integral resource for the industry as the DFW Local SAG-AFTRA Executive Director. Short in stature but long in vision, Trish believes in helping artists and producers incubate their indigenous projects. It’s her mission. Helping the community understand the dance between art and business, is her goal.
Trish serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas Motion Picture Alliance (TXMPA) and recently won the WIF.D Topaz Advocacy Award for her work to increase production incentives in Texas. In brief – Trish is a strong supporter of Women In Film and its mission to empower, promote and mentor. Nuff said.
Julie Fisk started her radio career in Atlanta, Georgia in 1990. Radio has taken her from Charleston, South Carolina to Albuquerque, New Mexico before landing in Dallas, Texas. Julie is married with 2 little girls, who ask her the most bizarre questions daily. Julie likes to spend her spare time exercising, then cooking & eating food that negates the earlier exercise.
